However, I actually have a good excuse. Our computer semi-crashed for about a week. Not much has changed for Darci and I over the past...well few months. We've both signed up to compete in a triathlon in August and I have signed up to run the Chicago Marathon in October so we've had a good time training for those together.

It's funny how when things seem to stagnate and nothing seems to be working, the people in your life just seem to show up. So thank y'all for "showin' up" for us. If you're reading this, chances are you've had a great impact on mine and Darci's lives. So thanks. It's funny sometimes how God shows up in the little things at exactly the right time, even if you don't realize the time has come. We have truly been blessed because of family because of friends and because pitchers and catchers have reported! Our friend Keith came to visit so to spite the cold we went ice skating on Friday night. Despite having frozen limbs and chins, we then walked down to the Hancock building and went up to the lounge at the top. What a spectacular view! It was fun to do the touristy things this weekend, but now it's back to the grindstone. A lot of reading, a lot of job hunting, and a lot of bundling up.

Hey all! Everything is gestation and then bringing forth. To let each impression and each germ of a feeling come to completion wholly in itself, in the dark, in the inexpressible, the unconscious, beyond the reach of one's own intelligence, and await with deep humility and patience the birth-hour of a new clarity: that alone is living the artist's life: in understanding as in creating. There is here no measuring with time, no year matters, and ten years are nothing. Being an artist means, not reckoning and counting, but ripening like the tree which does not force its sap and stands confident in the storms of spring without the fear that after them may come summer. It does come. But it comes only to the patient, who are there as though eternity lay before them, so unconcernedly still and wide. I learn it daily, learn it with pain to which I am grateful: patience is everything! - Rilke

We are Onions

Consumerism isn't' the problems.
